us for a night of pure drama and spectacular bikesport entertainment!
With laser lights and a capacity crowd of 8,000 in full voice, the top
six international trials superstars went head-to-head against each other
and the clock in Round 1 of the Embassy World Indoor Trials
Championship.
For many the question on everyone’s lips was not ‘Would Dougie
Lampkin win?’ but ‘Could he lose?’ The world-famous Yorkshireman
had won five out of five Sheffield Indoor Trials prior to the 2001 event
and he was looking to make it six on the trot. Marc Colomer and Steve
Colley plus the young Marc Freixa, Takahisa Fujinami and Albert
Cabestany were all desperate to halt Lampkin’s winning streak but
Lampkin was having none of it and set out to defend his crown in style!
The riders used all their agility, strength, supreme concentration and
balance to guide their machines over the huge sections and obstacles.
The cameras have captured all the action, loads of interviews and the
superb half-time entertainment from Ot Pi and Cesar Canis, who make
their bikes dance to the latest music.
